Black glasses do not prevent eye disease: how to avoid its infection?
The problem of eye rot is common in Nepal every year. This year, this disease has started appearing from Terai region. It is now seen in various districts across the country and patients have come as far as Kathmandu seeking treatment.
This is a problem caused by an adenovirus infection. It infects the membrane on the surface of the white part of the eye. This problem is called conjunctivitis in medical language and is called dry eyes in common language.Conjunctivitis is caused by either a virus or bacteria. Bacterial conjunctivitis remains active for twelve months. Viral conjunctivitis is especially active during the summer months or at the end of summer and the beginning of winter.
As its outbreak started from lowland or hot places, this time it seems that this virus is active with summer. However, bacterial conjunctivitis is more likely to affect infected individuals along with viral conjunctivitis.
Is it appropriate to go to the hospital or is home treatment sufficient?
The life cycle of adenovirus is usually completed in three to four days. So it can be fixed at home. This is important to understand because hospitals are overcrowded now.
The infected should pay attention to personal (especially eye) hygiene. Clean the eyes with clean water two to three times a day. Eating junk food. Applying a cold compress and simple antibiotic drops if the eye is very red are home remedies.
What do the symptoms look like?
Adenovirus infection initially causes eye twitching. Even blinking is difficult and tears flow profusely.Gradually the eyes become red. The eyeball starts to swell. When I wake up in the morning, I have a rash. A problem in one eye can spread to the other eye.
However, the effects of this virus may not be limited to the eyes. It also affects other parts of the human body, including flu symptoms. Some people have problems such as headache and neck pain, fever, hearing in the front part of the ear.
NOTE:
Viral conjunctivitis alone does not have long-term effects. However, if the infectivity of the virus is high but the immunity of the infected person is weak, it affects not only the membrane on the surface of the white part of the eye, but also the baby. As it also affects the cornea, it can cause swelling. Falling of a flower means that a person's vision is weak.
