Half-Yearly Review of Monetary Policy: Relief to Debtors
Nepal Rastra Bank has adopted some flexible policies with the aim of providing some relief for borrowers.
The central bank has given some relief to the borrowers by conducting a semi-annual review of the monetary policy of the current financial year.
In the review done by the Central Bank, it is said, "By the end of May 2080, it will be arranged that penal interest will not be charged if the loan is paid within one month of Likewise, arrangements have been made to restructure and reschedule loans up to Rs 10 lakh to facilitate the operation of small and medium industries and businesses. .Exceeding the principal/interest liability." This will provide some relief to the debtor.
In order to further strengthen the credit quality of banks and financial institutions, a policy has been taken to review the system including classifying the loans classified as non-performing under the loan classification and loss system into good and micro-monitored categories.
The goal is to make the monitoring of the average interest rate gap between loans and deposits and the premium charged from borrowers more effective.
